DECEMBER 13TH – (Republic Day) CHRISTMAS FAMILY LUNCH – CANCELLED
Venue and times to follow
(This will be similar to the St. Patrick’s Day lunch this year – grandparents – parents – siblings are all welcome – especially young children as we would like to include Santa as our guest, along with his presents of course).
Any suggestions for a venue please contact Mick 99843538.
This has now been cancelled and we’ll probably do something in January instead but nothing is confirmed as yet
ST. PATRICK’S DAY 2013Last St. Patrick’s Day lunch was so successful we have decided ‘if it’s not broken, don’t fix it’ so this year we will once again be celebrating with a Family Lunch and happily 2013 St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday!TREASURE HUNT. We are looking at the possibility of having a car treasure hunt some Sunday when the weather is a lot cooler, and we will let you have more information on this at a future date.
‘ARTHUR’S DAY’ at THE DUBLINER PUBAs any intelligent Irishman will know this has nothing whatsoever to do with Saint Arthur – but rather Arthur Guinness (probably considered a saint by most Irish people). The first ‘Arthur’s Day’ took place in September 2009 to celebrate the 250thAnniversary of the Guinness brewing company.Guinness drinkers were expected to raise a glass to the memory of Arthur Guinness at 17:59 (5:59 pm), a reference to 1759, the year the Guinness Brewery was established. This event was so successful it has now become an annual event. This year the event was celebrated in Malta for the first time at The Dubliner Pub in St. Julians. Carl (Proprietor) very kindly invited our members to come along and join in the celebrations and many of us went along and had what can only be described as a night of great hospitality, great music and great company. Sure the craic was mighty! Rumour has it that the night was such a success there are plans being hatched to ‘do it all again’ perhaps on a regular basis. We will keep you informed!(Photos taken on the night on web page/Facebook)
LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING WITH YOU ALL AGAIN AT THE QUIZ.
