Officially enrolled as an NGO

We have been advised by the Office of the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations that Irish Maltese Circle (IMC) has been officially enrolled as an NGO, operating as a non-profit making voluntary organisation.

This is indeed good news as organisations enrolled with the NGO’s Office are subject to regulations governing accountancy practices, fund raising events, etc.

We are delighted to have met all the stringent requirements necessary to qualify as a recognised Voluntary Organisation.

The Famine Memorial Dublin

The Famine Memorial DublinNorma Smurfit presented ‘Famine’ to the city of Dublin in 1997 to remember those who were forced to leave Ireland during the 19th Century famine. Rowan Gillespie, a Dublin sculptor, made the bronze statues to be found on Dublin’s Custom House Quay from where one of the first emigrant ships sailed.
